This guy is apparently leading a very allegorical life.

Anyway, I hate to be the one to break it to you, guys, but Australia is a fictional place. So is whatever other country you are from, if you’re not Australian. Some dudes in the days of yore just took a map and drew a bunch of imaginary lines across it, and then started making up names for the areas between those lines. Now, if I did this, declaring a certain section of the Earth to be “Timland”, and that I was the king of this land, then people would say I was crazy – but because everyone has lent their agreement to the map dividers of those ancient days, this has somehow become normal and accepted behaviour. Even though it’s insane.

Mostly I just wish atheists in particular would take the same skeptical attitude towards nationalism as they do towards religion. It’s all the same bullshit. Indeed, if anything it’s even dumber, because now we fight wars over imaginary map lines instead of imaginary super best friends.
